Allergies have increased in the United States in children and adults alarming doctors and the medical community. It has been called an epidemic. The types of allergies on the rise are asthma, food allergies, pet allergies, medication, insect bites and eczema.
Theories on Why Food Allergies Have Increased

Some theories suggest that when individuals are not exposed to infections and diseases, they do not develop a strong immune system. Another theory is that the bacteria in our gut will determine whether we develop allergies.
In diets not enough Vitamin D can lead to food allergies. Eating too much processed foods and not enough fresh fruits and vegetables can lead to allergies. Too much fat, salt, and sugar may contribute to food allergies too. It is believed that introducing foods that cause allergies to infants three months and older may reduce the risk. Chemicals and pollution may increase the risk of allergies. There are many causes of the rise in food allergies. in 2025.
Reasons Food Allergies Have Increased

Climate change due to warmer temperatures and carbon dioxide in the air has lead to longer growing seasons. People are exposed to pollen for longer amounts of time. Pollen levels are higher in 2025 than ever.
Big cities have led to more pollution from the chemicals in the air from companies that make product that cause pollution. It affects the air and we breathe when we go outside. Some chemicals get into the water system to pollute the water we drink.
Processed food has many additives and chemicals that can lead to allergies. Some consumers that live in food desserts do not have access to healthy foods. There are food allergies causes by a variety of different foods.
Household pets like cats, dogs, and other domestic animals can lead to allergies. Some people cannot tolerate their hair and dander.

Symptoms of Allergies And Possible Treatments

What symptoms do you have when you have allergies. There are many different symptoms sneezing, runny nose, fatigue, and red eyes. Food allergies can cause swollen lips, tongue, throat. stomach cramps, and hives.
An allergy from an insect sting can cause swelling, difficulty breathing, and pain where the sting is located. Allergies caused by medicines have a variety of symptoms dizziness, hives, rash, wheezing, and vomiting. The rise in allergies has many causes.
When you have serious symptoms, it is important to get a checkup with your GP or allergist to find out the cause. The test they will perform are blood test and skin tests to determine what is causing the allergies. Once they locate a cause they can determine a treatment.
Treatments include dietary and lifestyle changes, medications, injections, and immunotherapy developed to help with allergy symptoms. These are some of the treatments available for allergies.
